Miu Miu is hit or miss for me, and this season landed somewhere firmly in the middle.
The collection, titled “Here and Now,” opened with checked skirts and blazers before moving into sports bras, cropped jerseys, running shorts, tracksuits and swimwear. The sporty looks were fun, while the drawstring denim, reworked in collaboration with Wrangler, was easily one of the collection’s most convincing ideas.
The tartan skirts and blazers, however? We’re struggling. Their preppy proportions felt intentionally awkward, especially when paired with exposed stomachs, technical fabrics and oversized sneakers. It was classic Miu Miu contradiction: conservative tailoring made deliberately messy, polished clothes disrupted by details that looked almost accidental.
There’s something fascinating about the brand’s ability to take pieces that feel mismatched or even downright ugly and somehow make us want them. Is that brilliant design, or simply the power of the Miu Miu label? The collection’s mix of sportswear, tailoring, crystal bras, low-rise skirts and dangling drawstrings certainly showed how effectively Miuccia Prada turns tension into desire.
Fun? Yes. Eclectic? Absolutely. But we wanted more from the clothes than another trend waiting to happen. Miu Miu remains exceptionally good at creating the next viral styling moment — less convincing when it comes to offering something that feels genuinely new.
