Prada is taking its expertise beyond the runway and into space.
Together with Axiom Space, the brand has unveiled a new inner-layer garment for the Artemis IV mission planned for 2028. Designed to be worn beneath the outer suit, the Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment helps regulate body temperature during spacewalks that can last up to eight hours.
What makes the project interesting is how closely it reflects Prada’s technical language on the runway. The brand’s knowledge of advanced knitting, 3D modeling and engineered materials now finds a new use in one of the most extreme environments imaginable.
This is not fashion in the usual sense, but it is still design-led. The garment shows how luxury houses are increasingly being asked to think not only about aesthetics, but about performance, function and the future of wear.
It is a reminder that the most compelling fashion stories are not always about clothes you can see. Sometimes they are about the invisible layers that make everything else possible.
