The camellia is back in the spotlight.
For its latest High Jewellery collection, Chanel revisits one of the house’s most recognisable emblems and gives it a new life in precious materials. The flower’s five rounded petals and graphic symmetry translate naturally into necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets and watches, with diamonds and coloured stones adding contrast and depth.
The camellia has always held a particular place within Chanel’s visual language. More than a decorative motif, it has become a recurring design code — one that can feel soft and floral in one piece, and sharply geometric in another.
In the wider Signes & Symboles collection, the camellia appears alongside other symbols associated with Gabrielle Chanel, including the lion, star and sun. But it remains one of the most recognisable, precisely because it can move so easily between fashion, jewellery and identity.
Chanel’s latest interpretation is a reminder that the strongest house codes do not need to be reinvented completely. They simply need to be seen from a new angle.
