Hermès has officially landed in Williamsburg. The maison celebrated its new Brooklyn home by bringing New York to the dinner table, quite literally.
The new Hermès store opened at 130 Berry Street on September 19, marking the maison’s first permanent location in Brooklyn and its 44th store in the United States. Designed by Paris-based studio RDAI, the two-storey space draws on Williamsburg’s industrial architecture through five distinct brick façades, metalwork, terrazzo and details inspired by the neighbourhood’s workshops.
To celebrate, Hermès hosted a dinner for 250 guests at Powerhouse Arts. A long, winding violet table was built around a miniature, illuminated New York skyline, with hand-decorated buildings and street signs referencing Williamsburg streets including Berry, Bayard, Devoe and Broadway.
The menu by chef Sandy Truong An Tran Ho continued the city-inspired concept, with colourful dishes shaped by the visual language of the Hermès City of Light scarf. Handmade crystal dumplings, purple sweet potato spheres, green cabbage rolls and intricate nori tart shells turned the dinner into an edible work of art.
Inside the new store, all 16 of Hermès’s métiers are represented across two floors, bringing leather goods, silk, jewellery, ready-to-wear, watches, homeware and equestrian pieces together under one Brooklyn roof.
